Petri Rinne (M.Sc. in Forestry) has been working as a LEADER Local Action Group manager in southwest of Finland since 2001. Aside with this full-time position he has been consulting on LEADER method dissemination to new policy areas (urban development and fisheries policy). In 2011-2013 Rinne worked as the President of ELARD, which is the EU level umbrella organisation of 2 300 LEADER groups across the 28 EU member states. In 2015 he was elected the President of Finnish Village Action Association representing the interests of 4 200 rural communities and 54 LEADER LAGs in the country.
